In Arabic, a genie (also jinni, djinni, from Arabic جني jinnī) is a supernatural creature which occupies a parallel world to that of mankind, and together with humans and angels makes up the three sentient creations of God (Allah). According to the Qur’ān, there are two creations that have free will: humans and jinn. We do not know many details about them; however, the Qur’an mentions that jinn are made of smoke and/or fire, and they form communities just like humans, and, just like humans, they can be good or evil.[1]
The jinn are mentioned frequently in the Qur’an, and there is a surah entitled Sūrat al-Jinn. While Christian tradition suggests thatLucifer was an angel that rebelled against God's orders, Islam maintains that Iblīs was a jinni who was granted special privilege to live amongst angels prior to his rebellion.[2] After the rebellion, he was granted a respite to lead humans astray until the Day of Judgment. However, Iblis has no power to mislead true believers in God. Although some scholars have ruled that it is apostasy to disbelieve in one of God's creations, the belief in jinn has fallen compared to the belief in angels in other Abrahamic traditions.[3]
Animism (from Latin anima "soul, life")[1][2] is a philosophical, religious or spiritual idea that souls or spirits exist not only in humans but also in animals, plants, rocks, natural phenomena such as thunder, geographic features such as mountains or rivers, or other entities of the natural environment.[3] Animism may further attribute souls to abstract concepts such as words, true names or metaphors in mythology. Animism is particularly widely found in the religions of indigenous peoples,[4] although it is also found in Shinto, and some forms of Hinduism,Sikhism and Neopaganism.
European history, philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas, among others, contemplated the possibility that souls exist in animals, plants and people, however the currently accepted definition of animism was only developed in the 19th century by Sir Edward Tylor, who created it as "one of anthropology's earliest concepts, if not the first".[4]
Whilst having similarities to totemism, animism differs in that it, according to the anthropologist Tim Ingold, focuses on individual spirit beings which help to perpetuate life, whilst totemism more typically holds that there is a primary source, such as the land itself, or the ancestors, who provide the basis to life. Certain indigenous religious groups, such as that of the Australian Aborigines are more typically totemic, whilst others, like the Inuit are more typically animistic in their worldview.[5]
A totem is any supposed entity that watches over or assists a group of people, such as a family, clan, or tribe.[1]
Totems support larger groups than the individual person. In kinship and descent, if the apical ancestor of a clan is nonhuman, it is called a totem. Normally this belief is accompanied by a totemic myth.
Although the term is of Ojibwe origin in North America, totemistic beliefs are not limited to Native Americans. Similar totem-like beliefs have been historically present in societies throughout much of the world, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and the Arctic polar region.
In modern times, some single individuals, not otherwise involved in the practice of a tribal religion, have chosen to adopt a personal spirit animal helper, which has special meaning to them, and may refer to this as a totem. This non-traditional usage of the term is prevalent in the New Age movement, and the mythopoetic men's movement.
Third Man factor
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Third Man phenomenon)
The Third Man factor or Third Man syndrome refers to the reported situations where an unseen presence provided comfort or support during traumatic experiences. Sir Ernest Shackleton, in his book South, in which he describes his belief that an incorporeal being joined him and two others during the final leg of their journey. Wrote Shackleton, "during that long and racking march of thirty-six hours over the unnamed mountains and glaciers of South Georgia, it seemed to me often that we were four, not three."[1] His admission resulted in other survivors of extreme hardship coming forward. In recent years well-known adventurers like climber Reinhold Messner and polar explorers Peter Hillary andAnn Bancroft have reported the experience. One study of cases involving adventurers reported that the largest group involved climbers, with solo sailors and shipwreck survivors being the second most common group, followed by polar explorers.[2] Some journalists have related this to be the source of the Guardian angel belief.[3] The concept was popularized by a book by John Geiger, The Third Man Factor, that documents scores of examples.
my guardian:
St. Sealtiel continually stands before God, with incenser in hand in unceasing adoration of the Most Holy Trinity. As the Archangel of contemplation and worship, his angelic purity transforms the love and worship which we mortals give to God. We need St. Sealtiel's powerful intercession before God's throne to overcome the evils of hedonism in our day. May the evils of drug addition, sex exploitation and abortion become things of discredited past. May endless hymns of praise rise from all peoples as they chant in union with the Heavenly Choirs of Angels, in perpetual thanksgiving for God's bountiful blessings. He is known to be the angel who stopped Abraham from killing his son Isaac as a sacrifice. (Gen. 22:12)
Reflections
1) Do I take time to pray and reflect during some moments of the day?
2) Do I praise and thank God for every blessing in my life?
3) Do I pray with filial trust and confidence in God?
4) Do I make my life prayer of praise and thanksgiving?

How do I get to know my guardian angel?
To prepare yourself for learning your Guardian Angel's name, you need to find a time and place where you can have peace and quiet. Perhaps put on a tape or CD which has a nice and relaxing, restful rhythm to it as it plays quietly in the background. Light a candle if you wish and calm yourself down by tensing all the muscles from head to toe, letting them relax completely. While breathing out all negative thoughts and feelings.Become aware of yourself and your breathing and again as you exhale repeat your own name a few times and ask only for good and the best. When you have done this, change from repeating your own name and begin to ask "what is my guide's (guardian angel's) name?" Now completely relax, be quiet and listen. You probably will not hear anything audible, but if you can, stay relaxed as you may begin to sense one name or more running through your mind. If it is more than one name, ask them to be more specific and you will find that one name will become stronger - this will be your angel's (guide's) name.
Remember that you are always in control and that your angel will only work with you when you ask. They have no desire to control you and will always and only want to help and care about you with the purest of love and understanding.
** At any time you wish, you can ask them to leave and they will. **
Once you have become comfortable with your angel you can start conversing with them, asking them anything (no holds barred) and tell them of your fears, worries, desires and aspirations. They will always listen to you with the greatest of patience, love and understanding....furthermore, they don't tell anyone else. You can even offload all your anger on to them and they will be delighted to gather it from you and dispose of it for you.
If you find you have not received an answer to a question, just be patient because more than likely it will come when the time is appropriate. I will explore further in to the wonders of guides (guardian angels) when we next meet.
May you find your guardian angel, good luck! Try to love all things and peace be with you.........
