Praying Mantis Meanings in the Realms of Animal Symbolism
The mantis comes to us when we need peace, quiet and calm in our lives. Usually the mantis makes an appearance when we've flooded our lives with so much business, activity, or chaos that we can no longer hear the still small voice within us because of the external din we've created.
After observing this creature for any length of time you can see why the symbolism of the praying mantis deals with stillness and patience. The mantis takes her time, and lives her life at her own silent pace.
fravashi:

You see the symbol of Fravashi everywhere; in chains round people's neck, as stickers, as key chains etc. This image is also exhibited outside our fire-temples. Almost anyone can tell a Parsi institution by seeing the symbol of Fravashi on it. In fact, non-Parsis commonly refer to it as the "Parsi God".
Of course, the Fravashi, also called "Farohar", is not God but, God alone knows where we would be without the holy Fravashis. One can ask if it is a physical symbol or a spiritual aid? Once again, the answer to that is : it is both - just like our Sudreh-Kusti.
First, let us see the symbolism in this extremely elegant and impressive figure. The human figure reminds us of our duties. The right hand points straight indicating the path of Asha. If we traverse this path without taking any wrong turns, then we shall reach unto that divine light of Ahura Mazda.
In his left hand, he hold a ring. The ring being a circular figure has no starting and finishing points. Thus, the ring reminds us that knowledge in this world is infinite.
The part that is more eye-catching is definately the wings. They give the picture its real beauty and mystical charm. The more we trend the Ashoi path, the higher rises the soul - in the direction of God. The wings thus, symbolize great upward spiritual mobility.
Apart from the intellect, we need spiritual power so that we do not stray from it. Both, the intellect and the soul, can go awry, if they do not receive proper spiritual inputs.
The true spiritual knowledge is given to the soul by its spiritual counterpart, the Fravashi. Since the Fravashis are incorruptible they are revered as the purest spiritual component we have. Anything pure is also powerful and can fight evil better than some other thing, which can be good but can also be bad, that is fall prey to evil.
Fravashis guide the soul and also give it power to adhere to good. So powerful are they, that they assist Ahura Mazda in the work of creation.
